Our Team—Awakening Hope, Inc.

Awakening Hope, Inc is the US-based non-profit that supports our missions work in Guatemala. In Guatemala, our efforts are supported by the Guatemala-based non-profit organization Asociación Misión Firefly

Kim Broyles, Executive Director

Kim Broyles serves as Executive Director of Awakening Hope, Inc. and a board member of Asociación Misión Firefly (AMF) Guatemala. His 35+ years of international business leadership experience, including his role as a Global Accounts Director for Arrow Electronics, have provided him with invaluable expertise in managing complex organizations and international logistics. These skills are now being used to further Awakening Hope's mission. For over 12 years, Kim has served as an international missions leader, leading more than 30 teams to Guatemala since 2013. A graduate of the University of Tennessee with a BS in Electrical Engineering, Kim's faith journey began at age 9 at First Baptist Church of Whitwell, Tennessee. He is currently a member of Locust Grove Baptist Church, an Awakening Hope partner. Kim and his wife, Ginger, an Occupational Therapist, have two children, Maggie and Lawson. Kim, Ginger, Maggie, and Lawson have all participated in multiple mission trips to Guatemala. The Broyles family is passionate about expanding Awakening Hope's impact and sharing the hope of Jesus with the Mayan people.

Robb Wilson, Director and VP

Robb Wilson serves as a Director and VP of Awakening Hope, Inc. and as a board member of Asociación Misión Firefly (AMF) Guatemala. He is also the CEO of Wilson Lumber Company, a key partner in Awakening Hope's mission. Joining Wilson Lumber full-time in 1993, Robb assumed the role of CEO in 2011, spearheading a transformative restructuring that has yielded an impressive 38% average annual revenue growth rate. His success is rooted in his dedication to building robust workplace cultures characterized by mutual respect, high standards, and a deep integration of faith-based principles. In 2019, Robb's leadership inspired Wilson Lumber to answer God’s call to invest in the Guatemalan village of Potrerillo—a unique "adoption" that reflects the company's commitment to ministry. Robb shares, “It was unique for a business to adopt a village, but when the team from Wilson Lumber saw how other partners were ministering, they realized they had the same resources and could do it as well.” This partnership has resulted in over 40 employees and family members participating in mission trips, full sponsorship of the village school, and a significant increase in secondary school enrollment—from zero students continuing beyond 6th grade to twenty-one students most recently. Robb and his wife, Cassie, a Bible School leader on the trips, have three children: Avery, Haden, and Sophia, who is a beloved figure in Potrerillo.

Mike Durboraw, Director

Mike Durboraw serves as a Director of Awakening Hope, Inc. and a board member of Asociación Misión Firefly (AMF) Guatemala. Prior to his involvement in non-profit leadership, Mike enjoyed a successful 30-year career in the defense industry, including 25 years in executive leadership at Dynetics and key positions at Torch Technologies, Raytheon, and SAIC. He and his family have actively participated in numerous mission trips to Chuluc, Guatemala, supporting and uplifting the village through servant leadership. Mike’s wife, Theresa, serves as the Chuluc sponsorship administrator for Locust Grove Baptist Church, an Awakening Hope partner. Reflecting on his experience, Mike shares: "I never knew what poverty really was until I saw with my own eyes how villagers lived and worked in Guatemala. Since that time, I knew we had to go back again and again to attempt to break the cycle of poverty." Mike holds a BS in Aerospace Engineering from Auburn University and an MS in Aerospace Engineering from Virginia Tech. Mike and Theresa have been married for 32 years and have two daughters, Meghan and Tara, who share their family’s commitment to service and mission work.

David Hutto, Director

David and Kim Hutto are dedicated servants with a heart for Guatemala, where they have been ministering since 2010. Pastor David serves as a Director for Awakening Hope, Inc., sits on the board of Asociación Misión Firefly (AMF) Guatemala, and is the Associate Pastor and missions leader at First Baptist Church Meridianville, an Awakening Hope partner. Kim serves as the sponsorship administrator for Guatemala missions and directs the Wee Care program at their church. Their commitment to Guatemala began in 2010 during their first trip to the village of San Antonio. Witnessing the challenges faced by the community- including hunger, poor health, lack of clean water, inadequate housing, limited educational resources, and isolation due to poor roads- stirred a deep desire to serve. In 2013, after multiple return trips, they launched the child sponsorship program for San Antonio.

The Huttos continue to make a tangible difference in San Antonio by leading mission trips, managing sponsorships, and raising funds to support ongoing improvements in education, food security, housing, community infrastructure, and medical care. Their ministry is rooted in building lasting relationships and sharing the Gospel. "Our prayer is to see lives in San Antonio transformed both physically and spiritually," they share. "We long to see a thriving community of Christ-followers there, impacting generations to come."

David has served as Associate Pastor at Meridianville for 25 years, and Kim has been the Wee Care Director for 14 years. They have two children, Ben (married to Lacey) and Rebekah (married to Jacob), and four grandchildren. David holds a Bachelor’s Degree in History from Louisiana Tech University and a Master of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

Stacia Jones, Financial Administrator

Stacia Jones is a dedicated volunteer with Awakening Hope and serves on the board of Asociación Misión Firefly (AMF) Guatemala, demonstrating a deep commitment to serving others. Her passion for Guatemala missions began in 2010 during her first trip, where she was profoundly touched by the people and the country. Since then, Stacia has generously shared her time and talents. Drawing on her bookkeeping experience and a BS degree in Computer Information Systems, Stacia began managing finances for Guatemala missions in 2012. She continues this service as the Financial Administrator for Awakening Hope, playing a key role in ensuring the organization's financial health. Her expertise in fundraising, mission trip planning, bookkeeping, and managing child sponsorship programs makes her an invaluable asset to the Awakening Hope/AMF team.

Stacia's commitment extends beyond administrative duties. Since 2010, she has actively participated in numerous mission trips, contributing to medical missions, children's Bible school programs, feeding programs, and community development projects. She cherishes the relationships she has cultivated with the AMF Guatemala staff and the families in their sponsored village, considering them her extended family.

Stacia and her husband of 30 years, Bubba, have attended First Baptist Church of Meridianville, an Awakening Hope partner, for 15 years. They have two children, Zac and Maggie, and a son-in-law. Stacia's service reflects her deep faith and her desire to make a tangible difference in the lives of others.
